CY Fest 2008!

We did it!  Another year of Cooper Young Festival, and just as successful as usual.  Most importantly, the girls and I had such a great time.  Good weather, good company, good food and music, GREAT festival!

Next up: Art for Hope on Thursday, October 30th!

And another

Here's another sketchbook I made last night:

I love making these, but I think I've officially lost my thumbprints.  Like permanently.  Today is the day I invest in a thimble like a smart person....

Sketchy

My dad and I got to hang out breifly the other night and he told me (and then showed me) about a friend who makes her own little sketchbooks.  She did a lot of the book covers with fabric and then bound them herself and theyre REALLY cool.  But dad wanted me to see the books so that I could attempt to make them as well.

When I saw the book, I was so frustrated because I knew I'd have to wait another 12 hours before the art center was open.  Ha!

I didn't want to completely steal her idea, so i did modge podge covers instead.  I accidentally purchased the glossy finish, but as it turns out, I LOVE the way the glossy turned out.

So heres the finished product:

The cover-

The back cover -

And inside!

We'll have (hopefully) about 10 of these available at the festival this weekend, and then they'll be in the shop by next week!

Making these was TOTALLY worth the fact that my thumbs are throbbing still from such heavy duty sewing :)

Oh September...

It is my favorite month of the year! It's the beginning of the fall.  Cooper Young Fest happens this month.  Things change.  Weather is happier. The sun's up earlier.  I love it, love it.

Theres been some changes and some distractions over the last month, but I think pretty shortly, Love For Sale will be bigger than ever.  Im excited for what comes after Cooper Young this Saturday.

We also have a new addition to Love For Sale, who's merch pictures will be up in the shop next week - Ellen Whitten.  Ellen is one of the most fabulous people I've ever met with a really impressive natural talent.  I'm so excited that I have such a great sewing partner.  She'll be a big part of LFS being (hopefully) very successful.

Mandy, our resident stuffed creature maker, brought in a bag larger than her (granted shes tiny), today at work and I have to tell you, Cooper Young is going to be a sellout for her again this year.  Her stuffed guys are INCREDIBLE this year!  Im so excited!!!

I keep mentioning Cooper Young and forgetting to give you the details!

If you're in the Memphis area this Saturday, the 13th, Cooper Young Festival is one of the best annual events here in Memphis and you should come if you can!  It starts at 10 and ends at 6 that evening.  Great food, music, and most importantly GREAT crafts.  Our booth will be in its same location as usual - across the street from Celtic Crossing.

We hope to see you there!!!!!!!!!!
